Responsibilities
HESQ
- Adhere to applicable legislation, Yara's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, and the Golden Rules.
- Ensure all production activities comply with HESQ standards and practices.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace organization in production areas.
- Report any safety-related incidents, accidents, environmental breaches, hazardous conditions, or near-misses.
- Participate actively in incident and accident investigations.
- Conduct regular risk assessments for production activities and ensure control measures are implemented.
- Ensure proper use of PPE, safety equipment, and designated workwear.
- Serve as a role model for safety compliance and operational discipline.
People Management
- Lead, supervise, and motivate the production team, including operators and shift leaders.
- Ensure team members are well-trained, competent, and clear on their responsibilities.
- Identify training needs and support the continuous development of staff.
- Manage manpower allocation to ensure full coverage of shifts, breaks, training, and absences.
- Conduct onboarding and safety inductions for all new production staff.
Operations
- Monitor daily production operations and ensure alignment with production plans and quality targets.
- Use SCADA/DCS systems to track process parameters and respond to deviations in real-time.
- Ensure timely execution of batch and continuous production processes.
- Cooperate with utilities, maintenance, and quality teams to optimize production performance.
- Ensure shift reports, production logs, and operational KPIs are accurately maintained.
- Support implementation of Management of Change (MOC) procedures.
- Operate industrial chemical processing systems such as boilers, cooling towers and water treatment units
Profile
Education
- Bachelors of Science in chemistry or Engineering in Chemical or other related fields.
Experience
- Ideally with supervisory experience gained within a similar production environment.
- 2–5 years in a process-oriented manufacturing environment (e.g., fertilizer, chemical, or oil and gas)
- Experience in automated production systems and safety compliance is highly desirable
- Able to produce, read and interpret electrical schematics, P&ID’s and engineering drawings
Personal Attributes
- High level of safety awareness and a good understanding of the Health and Safety and other attendant regulations.
- Highly organized, with the ability to effectively prioritise and plan the workload of self and others.
- Good communication skills – both written and verbal.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Good level of IT competence.
