Volos Facility Supervisor

About the Position

Yara Europe is currently seeking a Facility Supervisor for its dry warehouse terminal in Volos, Hellas, who will be responsible for the facility’s operations and act as the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.

 

Located in Central Greece, 320 km north of Athens, the Volos Terminal includes bagging lines and serves Greece and the Balkan countries with bagged and palletized fertilizer products. The facility imports fertilizers via vessels and distributes them through various transport modes, including containers, trucks, rail, and coastal shipping.

 

The Facility Supervisor will oversee production activities in alignment with Yara’s technical and health & safety standards, ensuring production targets are met, equipment reliability is improved, and product quality remains consistent. The role also involves organizing maintenance to support efficient line operations and fostering a safe and productive working environment for the team. This position reports to the Supply Chain Manager Hellas.

 

Responsibilities

People Management

  • Be Responsible for Volos Facility towards customers, vendors, authorities and all stakeholders. Have the overall responsibility, work in collaboration with Production Supervisor and Dispatch Supervisor, leading all the operations at site.
  • Participate and attend training as required and as identified in Development Plan on People Path.
  • Actively coach individuals to support their training needs where necessary.
  • Manage recipes, raw materials, production equipment & installations in order to achieve production targets effectively         
  • Lead, supervises and motivates production personnel (operators) and take responsibility for their continuous training, improvement & development.

Production

  • Ensure that products are manufactured as per specification and in line with agreed cost budgets to meet market demands.                                                        
  • Produce finished product that meets the high-quality standards of Yara in order to guarantee compliance with the fertilizer regulations and exceed customer expectation.
  • Management of day-today production operation by managing the stock levels of raw materials and finished products on site.
  • Ensure batch and stock recording associated with production and blending activities are completed.
  • Data processing using SAP
  • Operation of product import export and storage activities.
  • Technical responsibility for optimum & reliable operation of production, vehicles and utilities equipment.
  • Application of troubleshooting methods and the required preventive & corrective actions in order to confront emergency situations and deviations from normal production operation        

Operational Excellence

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as the LEAN to increase operational efficiency and promote safety awareness to improve the safety culture.
  • Drive all aspects of Terminal improvement through waste elimination, OEE and associated continuous improvement activities.
  • Actively participate in the Asset Care programs.
  • Conduct first & Second line maintenance activities, in line with appropriate training, to ensure availability of production equipment.
  • Complete maintenance orders to record maintenance activities.
  • Investigate and notify in time production malfunctions / emergency situations  and undertake the required actions in order to resolve them properly.
  • Application of troubleshooting methods and the required preventive & corrective actions in order to confront emergency situations and deviations from normal production operation
  • Implement & coordinate quality & process control procedures to achieve product quality consistency & process reliability

Financial

  • Assist Supply Chain Manager  in monitoring the site operating budget.
  • Provide support  in submission of and execution of Capital Investments for the terminal (CAPEX)
  • Procure goods and services following company procedures for Purchase Orders and Goods Receipt. Ensure competitive rates are sought for the site operation and maintenance activities.
  • Work with the central category procurement teams where relevant.
  • Manage product stock levels in order to ensure economic utilisation of working capital, ensuring timely goods receipt of raw materials and goods issue of finished product.
  • Collaborates harmonically with all the involved departments (maintenance/ logistics/ warehouse) and communicate effectively production problems and pending issues to other shifts

Profile

  • Engineer diploma (Mechanical or Electrical or Chemical /University) or equivalent
  • Professional Experience (5 years) in Process Industry in similar position
  • Deep Knowledge of Packaging Operations (Sealing Technology)
  • Process Control principles (PLC operation, PID control, Statistical Process Control – SPC )
  • Fluent in written and spoken Greek and English, MS Office adequacy, SAP Basic Knowledge
  • Excellent organization and communication organization  skills.
  • Team player, Leader behaviour and shelf driven
