About Yara Avonmouth

Yara Avonmouth has been involved in the production and distribution of fertilisers for over 60 years and plays a key role in Yara’s UK supply chain. Located in Avonmouth in the South West of England, near the city of Bristol, the site operates as an Upper Tier COMAH (Seveso) facility with a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

The 15‑acre site has bulk and bagged storage capacity and is equipped with modern bagging and blending capabilities, handling up to 120,000 tonnes per year. With a small, highly skilled team, Avonmouth leverages cross‑training, modern equipment, and lean principles to ensure efficient, safe, and reliable operations.

We are looking to strengthen our Avonmouth operations by recruiting a Production Operative to join our site team.

This is a hands-on operational role where you will be involved in the day‑to‑day production, handling and dispatching fertilizer products, working with blending, coating and bagging equipment and operating mobile plant machinery. The role plays a key part in ensuring safe, efficient and high‑quality terminal operations. Operations currently run on a single day shift, Monday to Friday, with flexibility to operate 24/7 if required.

What you will do

  • Operate blending, coating and bagging equipment, including cleaning and basic first-line maintenance
  • Ensure products are bagged to the correct weight, correctly sealed and labelled for full traceability
  • Handle bulk and bagged fertilizer products in line with good product stewardship practices
  • Store finished products internally and externally prior to dispatch, ensuring protection from the weather
  • Record production, batch and stock data accurately
  • Operate mobile plant machinery such as loading shovels and forklift trucks
  • Work closely with the site team to meet bagging plans and commercial requirements

All roles at the Avonmouth terminal operate in line with Yara’s safety principles, environmental standards and quality requirements. Continuous improvement is part of everyday work. This includes supporting LEAN initiatives, asset care activities, operational efficiency improvements and participating in relevant training and development.

All work is carried out in compliance with the Fertilizer Industry Assurance Scheme (FIAS) requirements relevant to the role.
