Senior Production Supervisor

Our products and solutions help industry reduce emissions, improve air quality and prioritize effective operations safely. Yara Africa & Asia (YAA) produces, sells, distributes and markets fertilizers and industrial products across Asia Pacific and Africa regions, with offices location and operational units in 20 countries. The region employs over 1800 employees and has a long history in the Asian Pacific and African markets, focusing on develop crop nutrition concepts that increase food production and create value to the growers, in particular smallholder farmers, whilst minimizing environmental impact of agricultural activities. YAA is currently undergoing a major transformation, aimed at shifting the existing business models, generating new revenue streams and ultimately delivering profit through new Farming Solutions related activities.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership & Oversight:

- Support the Production Lead in guiding production supervisors, personnel, and contractors.
- Monitor schedules, workflow, and resources to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Ensure compliance with production specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee in-process quality checks and ensure final products meet Yara specifications and customer standards.
- Lead root-cause analysis for defects, issue NCRs, and implement CAPA.
- Project Management & Continuous Improvement:

- Identify opportunities for process improvement, waste reduction, cost saving, transformation, and optimization.
- Lead identification, justification, and execution of CAPEX projects to upgrade machinery or expand capacity.
- Represent production in cross-functional teams to ensure equipment installations or upgrades are delivered on time and within budget.
- Manage project transitions, ensuring staff are trained and operational disruptions are minimized during upgrades.
- Implement closed-loop communication and verification so stakeholders and floor teams understand and execute new procedures or upgrades.
- Environmental Management & Compliance Responsibilities

- Coordinate environmental assessments, monitor data, and support initiatives to reduce the factory’s ecological footprint.
- Manage segregation, storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials and waste in line with regulations.
- Oversee preparation, application, renewal, and submission of permits, waste manifests, and environmental compliance reports.
- Coordinate annual environmental and workplace measurements, such as air, noise, light, and emissions, and submit required reports.
- Work with landlords and relevant parties to ensure facility infrastructure, safety tracking, and electrical inspection reports are completed.
- Improve operational efficiency, monitor utility usage, and prepare energy efficiency summaries and reports.
- Reporting & Administration:

- Prepare and present reports on output, downtime, quality, CAPEX, and safety incidents.
- Collaborate with planning, logistics, quality, and contractors to ensure smooth operations.
- Deliver timely administrative outputs, including formal MOMs, data-verified staff analysis, and project deadline tracking.
HESQ and Ethics & Compliance
- Understanding YARA safety (Golden rules)
- Drive, audit, and sustain 5S activities and housekeeping standards across owner areas to maintain an audit-ready facility.
- Always act in accordance with Ethics & Compliance policy as defined by Yara globally
- Work in accordance with HESQ policy, relevant legislation, Yara safety and security principles, and golden rules.
Profile
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing), Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
- Associate's degree or equivalent technical certification with extensive experience will be considered.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in a production or manufacturing environment, with at least 1-3 years in a supervisory role.
- Proven experience in leading cross-functional projects, including machinery upgrades, CAPEX implementation, or facility improvements.
- Practical experience in implementing Environmental & Sustainability initiatives (e.g., waste reduction, energy saving) within a factory setting.
- Proven track record of achieving production targets and implementing process improvements.

- Strong leadership, adaptability, growth mindset and team-building skills.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and production planning.
- Project & Change Management: Proficient in project coordination, from planning and resource allocation to managing operational transitions during upgrades.
- Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Finance, and external contractors.
- Analytical Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and utilize data to drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO14001) and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
- Proficiency in using production management software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong commitment to safety.
