Facilities Operator - Maintenance

About the Unit
Located in the Curtis Bay area of Baltimore, Maryland, the Yara North America Baltimore Terminal is strategically positioned along the Patapsco River near the base of the Key Bridge. This deep-water facility provides direct maritime access for the importation of fertilizers and industrial chemicals, serving key markets throughout the region. It is comprised of 7 above ground storage tanks with a total capacity of 9,556,867 Gallons or 52,380 ST.
The Facilities Operator - Maintenance position will report to the Facilities Manager and will monitor and maintain Terminal equipment to ensure proper and safe operation, monitor and coordinate loading and unloading operations to ensure safe and efficient transfers, and monitor and control product rail and truck delivery systems to ensure safe and dependable supply to our customers.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and perform maintenance of Facility equipment to ensure proper and safe operation.
- Perform a variety of tasks pertaining to the installation, maintenance, and service of mechanical equipment, instruments and structures.
- Perform operational tasks as required to insure a safe, reliable, accurate and consistent supply to YNA customers via truck or rail loading.
- Conduct prescribed testing and calibration to maintain accuracy of all systems.
- Write procedures including hazard assessments and safe job analysis for the variety of maintenance, projects and operational tasks.
- Perform or make recommendations regarding a wide variety of maintenance and repair projects.
- Supervise contractors to ensure safe, cost effective and timely completion of their work.
- Monitor supplies and help maintain appropriate inventories. Assist with estimating quantities of materials and supplies needed and placing orders. Recommend and assist with equipment purchases by researching cost, availability and other factors. Prepare time, material, work order and equipment use records.
- Adhere to YNA policies and comply with federal and OSHA regulations in all aspects of work.
- Stay current with all required trainings.
- Perform security duties as described in the Facility Security Plan or as assigned.
- Read, understand, and implement the Terminal HESQ manual in all matters pertaining to this job.
Profile
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working safely in an industrial facility preferred.
- Meet all qualifications to attain and maintain a TWIC.
- Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience.
- Good computer skills.
- Safety oriented.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Solid organizational skills.
- Ability to read and understand Terminal drawings/P&ID’s.
- Strong understanding of the management of change processes.
Additional Information
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
- The position holder must be able to:
• Pick-up heavy material (25-50 lbs.).
• Work in confined spaces.
• Work at heights up to 60 feet.
• Work on feet for several hours, including bending and kneeling.
• Wear all types of personal protective equipment, including fall protection.
• Work outdoors/indoors under extreme temperatures.
• Work overtime and work adjusted hours/workdays due to schedule changes when there is a need/requirement to deliver on terminal obligations.
