Accounting Specialist

Our fertilizers and our crop nutrition programs were designed to help the sector of food production and to meet the needs of a growing world population. Our products and solutions help industry reduce emissions, improve air quality and prioritize effective operations safely. Yara Africa & Asia (YAA) produces, sells, distributes and markets fertilizers and industrial products across Asia Pacific and Africa regions, with offices location and operational units in 20 countries. The region employs over 1800 employees and has a long history in the Asian Pacific and African markets, focusing on develop crop nutrition concepts that increase food production and create value to the growers, in particular smallholder farmers, whilst minimizing environmental impact of agricultural activities. YAA is currently undergoing a major transformation, aimed at shifting the existing business models, generating new revenue streams and ultimately delivering profit through new Farming Solutions related activities.

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities

  • Process day-to-day payment and tax, including review and verify payment requests, outgoing payments and foreign currency payments according to agreed processes and to company policies and update the company’s cash flow
  • Reconcile payment records and bank
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of payments made
  • Liaise with banks on payment, bank guarantees, and minimizing finance costs.
  • Executing tax accounting entries and preparing and submitting withholding tax and value added tax for monthly, ensuring accurate and timely electronic submissions.
  • Monitor and review company spending to ensure compliance with budget and payment terms
  • Support on intercompany reconciliations
  • Conduct month-end closing and year-end closing procedures
  • Implement and ensure that global accounting policies and procedures, agreed internal processes, are implemented and followed
  • Perform internal control on financial reporting (ICFR) - Quarterly check lists as assign.
  • Assist in preparation of audit schedules.
  • Participates in physical inventory and fixed assets count.
  • Ensure assigned tasks are performed efficiently and with a professional manner
  • Execute all other position-related tasks delegated by the Line Manager

 

HESQ and Ethics & Compliance

  • Work in accordance with H&S policy and relevant legislation, Yara safety and security principles and golden rules
  • Always act in accordance with Ethics & Compliance policy as defined by Yara globally

Profile

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Min. 3 years of experience in payment, tax, account payable or a related field
  • Experience handling financial transactions and reconciling accounts

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
  • Proficient in Excel skills, computerized skill in MS Office, working knowledge of SUN system could be a plus
  • Experience as a tax preparer or a similar role
  • Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations (e.g. regarding payment terms, tax)
  • Ability to prepare financial reports and statements
  • Strong math skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Vendor management skills in managing vendor relationships, resolving invoice disputes, and handling payments
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
  • Proficiency in English & Fluent in Thai
