About Agronomy and R&D

The unit is responsible for all R&D and agronomic competence within the company. Its objective is to develop and to strengthen Yara’s knowledge regarding Crops, Agronomy, and sustainable agriculture. It also leads the agronomic input and requirements regarding the development of new and innovative Products, Services and Tools.

About the Crop Knowledge & Agronomy Team and the Role

Within Agronomy and R&D unit, the Crop Knowledge and Agronomy Team serves as Centre of Excellence for Agronomic Knowledge and Global Crop Expertise, shaping the desired level of expertise in the field and owning the agronomic competence model content development in Yara. The unit is also responsible for research programs on target crops, agronomic crop solutions creation and sharing within our Global Agronomy Network and important stakeholders (internally and externally).

We are looking for a dynamic, passionate, entrepreneurial, and innovative Crop Agronomist, able to bring well-grounded, practical advice to our teams & solutions. Close collaboration with Crop and Digital solutions unit, Yara Asia/Africa markets and Agronomy and R&D teams will be vital for the success in this role.


  • Agronomy knowledge is at the core of Yara's farmer facing solutions. We are looking for an expert agronomist with an in-depth knowledge of the maize crop and best management practices within Thailand
  • You will be an active contributor to all maize related work within Asia & Africa, providing local/regional expert agronomy advice, guidance on all agronomic matters while supporting local validation of concepts
  • You will provide the content and strong local guidance to make our solutions both practical, scientifically sound and relevant. Extending the knowledge from our global competence into local solutions
  • Using your existing strong knowledge and understanding of maize agronomy, traditional farming practices & smallholder farmer challenges, one key role is to develop local content to grow Yara's existing knowledge bank into actionable insights for farmers
  • Working closely with stakeholders, local experts and farmers to ensure solutions meet the needs of our users


  • Industry experienced agronomist with a graduate degree in agriculture, agronomy or related science
  • 5 years plus field experience (specific to maize) in an advisory or implementation role
  • Expert knowledge of all aspects of maize crop production and industry
  • Capacity to synthesise feedback from scientific trials into clear, practical & relevant recommendations for farmers
  • Good communication skills, able to create engaging content suitable for farmers and maintain regular communication with a remote team
