Senior Agronomist (Northern Region)

Yara Africa & Asia (YAA) produces, sells, distributes and markets fertilizers and industrial products across Asia Pacific and Africa regions, with offices location and operational units in 20 countries. The region employs over 1800 employees and has a long history in the Asian Pacific and African markets, focusing on develop crop nutrition concepts that increase food production and create value to the growers, in particular smallholder farmers, whilst minimizing environmental impact of agricultural activities.
YAA is currently undergoing a major transformation, aimed at shifting the existing business models, generating new revenue streams and ultimately delivering profit through new Farming Solutions related activities.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility to deliver on time and work according to best agronomic practices
• Cooperate field activity with food chain and Yara partner company for crop nutrition knowledge sharing to famer activity.
• Role model for field activity that you follow the Best Practice way of working for demo plots, farmer meetings, farmer field days, exhibition and other related field activity
• Have the courage to stand up for sound agronomic advice over short term commercial needs
• Display an eagerness for people development – not just through your training, coaching and feedback; but also mentoring both new and experienced colleagues through challenges they encounter
• Ability to manage large projects on behalf of the Agronomy manager
• Show curiosity, frequently search for new ideas and information

Profile

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in agronomy, agriculture, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in agronomy and crop production, including experience in a leadership role
• Experience conducting research and analyzing data, developing recommendations and plans, and mentoring and training junior agronomists and other team members
• Familiarity with computer programs and technologies related to agronomy and crop production

Knowledge and Skills

• Solid knowledge of agriculture and nutrient management in Thailand
• Knowledge of commercial and marketing tools
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills 
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations effectively
• Strong team-working skills and the ability to work effectively with others in a collaborative environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Capable of carrying out agreed plans to develop and drive agronomy
• Be able to work under pressure meeting deadlines and overcoming differences of opinion
• Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office) and their use in reporting
• Be recognized as an expert in a crop or group of crops both internally & externally

Other Requirements

• Driving License required
• Fluent in Thai and English
• Ability to travel and work for periods in upcountry
