Responsibilities
The Static Mechanical Equipment Engineer will ensure timely & effective maintenance of the plant assets with a focus on preventing and avoiding future failures of the equipment. They will provide engineering expertise in troubleshooting, preventative/corrective maintenance strategies, specifications for equipment replacements.
- Lead engineering & execution of capital & turnaround activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop project specifications & ensure integration of static mechanical systems with engineering disciplines.
- Act as discipline lead for equipment replacement projects; develop scope & detailed work packages, develop/review specifications, drawings, procedures, & calculations, & provide technical support.
- Conduct thorough engineering calculations & simulations using International Standards (ASME/API)
- Provide engineering expertise & technical guidance.
- Provide inputs to various groups for planning/scheduling.
- Provide input to, lead plant modification initiatives for projects.
- Conduct equipment assessments & inspection opportunities.
- Analysis of maintenance history and failure data.
- Provide long term asset maintenance & replacement plans.
- Participate & lead systematic Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS).
Education, Experience & Skill
- Degree in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering with eligibility of registration as a professional engineer with APEGS.
- 10+ years of experience in an industrial environment such as petrochemical, refinery or chemical plants in a maintenance environment.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Well developed organizational skills and interpersonal skills.
- Experience delivering technical solutions in a group environment.
- Technical report writing including Root Cause Analysis, Inspection Reports, Reliability improvement recommendations, etc.
- Candidate must be capable of interpreting engineering drawings and developing detailed engineering packages.
- Expertise in Engineering standards such as API, ASME, ASTM & Saskatchewan Boiler and Pressure Vessel Act is required.
- Expertise in Maintenance and Engineering work on pressure vessels, piping, heat exchangers, tanks, etc.
