Data Engineer - Digital Production

About the Unit

Being the world's leading crop nutrition company, Yara is also the world's largest producer of ammonia, nitrates, and NPKs. Our Production segment is thus an integral building block for delivering on our mission -- with a clearly stated ambition to become world-leading on metrics such as safety, environmental footprint, quality, and production costs. Long term, the target is the "Plant of the Future" with zero emissions, and low CAPEX/OPEX. Building on a lean transformation, we are now ramping up our focus on digital solutions to help us achieve this ambition.

To lead this effort, we have established a global unit called Digital Production. The success of Digital Production and its solutions is a key priority for Yara, and we plan to significantly grow our efforts within this field. In this context, we are currently looking for forward-leaning and enthusiastic leaders to help us build our team and execute on our ambition.

About the Role

A critical focus area for Digital Production is to leverage the vast quantity of data generated as part of our operations. We are building products that help us optimize our production, increase the quality of our products, reduce our emissions, increase the safety of our workers, and more. You will be part of the Data Science Team in Digital Production and play a critical role in ensuring that we are able to do just that.

You would be expected to connect to various data sources and build, deploy and maintain rapid prototypes, analytical dashboards as well as data pipelines in production, building relevant APIs & web services. You will be expected to work within agile squads of interdisciplinary experts including business, domain, and technology, who are tasked to solve real-world problems related to production optimization, emission reduction, safety, and more.

The ideal candidate is a critical thinker, is passionate about solving engineering and behavioral problems with data, and is excited about working in a fast-paced, innovative, and collaborative environment as part of the Data Science team.

  • Write, design, code, test, implement, debug, and validate applications; document design decisions and develop modular software components; monitor system performance metrics, and identify potential risks/issues
  • Develop and maintain production data pipelines supporting modeling techniques and model interchange in production settings
  • Perform ETL, data wrangling, and feature engineering on huge amounts of data that structured, unstructured, time-series, and images.

Profile

  • BS/MS in Computer Science / Engineering, Machine Learning, or similar
