To achieve our ambitions, it is crucial that we leverage digital technologies and data-driven approaches. We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our Production Optimization unit and help us create a sustainable future through digital innovation.

We in the Production Optimization Team develop and deliver digital solutions to optimize production by providing real-time process insight, decision support and automatically adjusting the process. Our products are cloud-native and developed on top of a unified digital platform to provide scalability that will help our employees at the sites, or in global functions, improve the efficiency and safety of our factories' processes and operations. Our unit is responsible end-to-end for the impact of the digital products, which means that we establish the vision, develop, and deploy the products at the production sites.

Although the role is based in Berlin, Germany or Oslo, Norway our hybrid work model allows you to combine remote (3 days) and on-site work (2 days).

About the Role

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer who is excited about building high-quality, scalable software solutions and applications for optimizing production.

You will be a valuable member in a cross-functional, autonomous team to build, experiment, iterate and deliver new objectives for Industrial IoT. Above all, your work will impact how we feed the world and protect the planet.

As a key member of a cross-functional team, you and your team will define your own objectives, shape your own roadmap and work to deliver value every step along the way. You will work in a globally dispersed and diverse team. While we encourage face-to-face collaboration, we adopt a flexible, virtual-first approach, allowing you to manage your own schedule

What you will be doing

In your role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the digitalization of core processes and operations. Your responsibilities will focus on delivering tangible outcomes and driving positive change. These include:

Set the direction and ensure that the product vision and architecture is well understood by all members in the team.
Work closely with the Architects, Product owners, Designers, and engineering individuals to design, develop, and deploy applications with a strong focus on scalability, and robustness.
Consistently writes production-ready clean code that is easily testable, easily understood by other developers and accounts for edge cases and errors.
Implements tech vision defined by the organization and makes sure the architecture solution is consistent. Works across teams to foster a culture of architecture that allows for iterative, autonomous development and future scaling.
Leverage DevOps practices and principles to help scale developer’s productivity, and continuously contribute to improve our engineering standards.
Fosters a culture of delivering praise and constructive feedback across several teams as well as their respective business stakeholders. Successfully manages cross-team commitments, their progress, and roadmap to delivery.
Contribute to the team's work with peer reviews, testing, and mentoring and be an inspiration for software engineers across the engineering team

What you bring

To be successful at Yara, you should also have the following:

You have at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar.
You are an experienced engineer in building cloud-native software solutions that are highly performant, scalable, and maintainable.
You are a full stack engineer having made contributions to the Frontend and Backend development using different technologies such as ReactJS, Java/Kotlin, NodeJS or Python, etc.
You are experienced in working on AWS (Amazon Web Services).
You are eager to learn, a conscientious worker, and a thoughtful, kind, supportive person who enjoys sharing your knowledge with your colleagues.
You have excellent English communication skills and an abundance of passion and enthusiasm for creating the product
