About Legal

The Legal area is a full-service in-house legal department responsible for a wide range of legal duties. By using our knowledge of Yara’s business and its corporate culture, legal proactively assesses and manages risks and deals with the legal matters Yara confront. Members of the Legal deal, to a great extent, with the preparation and negotiation of commercial contracts connected with Yara’s business activities, joint venture collaborations, and other major business development projects.

Currently we have the vacancy for the position of Legal Counsel. We need a person with an experienced and highly motivated leader profile, whose main purpose is to ensure compliance with the commercial strategy, aiming to consolidate customer satisfaction and loyalty, to make their business more productive and profitable, to contribute to the company's results. 


Role Statement and Mission

To legally manage in line with the goals and guidelines set forth by Yara Legal Latam 
To legally monitor compliance on corporate governance by  Latam entities
To ensure standardization of legal documents in the countries
To identify legal risks and legal contingencies 
To implement monitoring and reporting mechanisms
To monitor regulatory initatives and Political risks in the Region
To monitor Legal-Tax Governance compliance in the Region
To be the point of contact with Legal Americas for Legal Compliance and Legal Ops


Responsibilities and priorities

Provide proactive, fast, effective, high quality and business-oriented legal support and advice in key projects.
Anticipate and maintain up-to-date knowledge of current laws relevant to the business to provide strategic advice and foster compliance.
Supports compliance of corporate governance of local entities 
Supports Latam in the centralization of information required to report Yara Intl or Yara Legal Americas.
Anticipate and maintain up-to-date knowledge of current laws relevant to the business to provide strategic advice and foster compliance
Updates Yara´s JV register
Updates Legal Claims reports
Supervises standardization of legal templates
Centralizes and monitors trademarks in Latam
Monitors external counsel where Legal Dpt has no seat
Monitors regulatory initatives and Political risks in Latam
Supervises Legal-Tax Governance compliance in Latam
Point of contact with Legal Americas for Legal Compliance and Legal Ops for implementation of initiatives in Latam
Supports Latam Legal Director in all the initiatives
Provide and implement best practices, as well as contribute for the improvement of the process.


Management duties: 

Leadership: create alignment across Legal and its interfaces with other areas in the countries 
Communication: collaboration and coordination with legal peers



Know and comply with the Policy, Safety Principles, guidelines and HESQ standards established by the company, based on the Safe by Choice philosophy, as well as the applicable legal requirements and Know and comply with the other requirements defined in the Matrix of HESQ Responsibilities, associated with their position / role




Law degree
Specialization degree: corporate, tax or commercial lawLegal Tech skills 
Business law of finance or/and Legal Design  are a plus but not necessary

Work Experience

Minimum of 5 years working experience.
