Latin America Director HESQ, Operations, & Supply Chain

About the Unit
The Latin America Director HESQ, Operations & Supply Chain Excellence is responsible for the strategic leadership of the Health, Environment, Safety and Quality (HESQ), Operations and Supply Chain areas for the region, as well as excellence in the management of the region's OCOSHE project portfolio, the management of CCI infrastructure growth projects and the Indirect Procurement process. The role is part of the Latin America Leadership Team and is key both in strategic prioritization and in decision-making related to HESQ, operational excellence, growth projects, and the review and allocation of OCOSHE and CCI resources, fostering a culture of collaboration and psychological safety where teams can thrive and innovate.
Responsibilities
• Lead HESQ as a functional area at the Latin America level and drive Yara’s HESQ culture (Safe by Choice) towards best market standards.
• Advise Latin America Management on all matters related to HESQ.
• Lead Operations area for Latin America and promote a continuous improvement mindset across the region. Act as sponsor of the region’s Better Together program.
• Lead the Supply Chain team at the Latin America level.
• Manage the project portfolio and OCOSHE budget allocations for all sites in Latin America, as well as act as sponsor and lead developer of the region’s CCI infrastructure growth projects.
• Be the escalation point in the Region for topics related to YGP HESQ, Technology and Projects, Climate and Energy, and operations.
• Co-lead the "future-fit supply system" winning battles in Latin America, including defining the region’s future supply system.
• Lead and manage the Indirect Procurement team and processes in the region.
• Lead and support the development of the teams under direct management, building the capabilities and talent for the future.
• Lead the monitoring, control and performance of the various KPIs of all functional areas under responsibility for the region.
Profile
Education
Advanced university degree in Engineering or Business Administration.
Master’s degree in related fields.
Work experience
Minimum 10 years of experience in HESQ, supply chain and operations, with proven senior leadership capabilities.
Previous experience managing large cross-functional teams in complex manufacturing environments.
Experience in large-scale corporate projects, transformation projects and organizational change management.
Knowledge and skills (hard and soft)
Strong knowledge and experience in HESQ.
Knowledge of Supply Chain and operations processes. Experience in portfolio, program and project management and organizational change management, in addition to stakeholder management experience in corporate and complex environments.
Good knowledge of Yara’s business model, markets and products.
Strategic thinking with the ability to execute in an agile manner.
Ability for critical thinking and use of problem-solving tools and Six Sigma.
Strong analytical, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build trust and challenge established practices when necessary.
Languages
Spanish (fluent) and English (fluent).
Other requirements
Availability to travel in an international environment. Cultural awareness and adaptability to work across multiple countries in the Latin American region.
Additional Information
The role is of high strategic relevance for the Latin America region, being part of the Regional Leadership Team. It has direct impact on operational safety, supply chain efficiency and operational excellence across all sites in the region. It interfaces cross-functionally with global functions such as YGP HESQ, Technology and Projects, Climate and Energy, as well as with related Americas region functions, ensuring the alignment of regional and corporate strategy with organizational objectives.
