Research Scientist - Crop Nutrition Products & Agronomy

The function Yara Farming Solutions will lead the transformation towards more sustainable and efficient food production, by innovating our offering and the way we work. R&D and Agronomy is responsible for developing new crop nutrition products and driving agronomic excellence within the organization. Crop nutrition products are a backbone of Yara’s offerings. The R&D area has the mandate to drive and execute the product development and innovation of Yara’s crop nutrition products with focus on high value portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design and coordinate the execution of the research trial program for registring the current biostimulant products as per the new Fertilizing Products Regulations (EU) 2019/1009. This program includes scientific and semi-commercial trials evaluating performance and benefits of various novel active ingredients that are applied through soil, foliar, fertilizer, seed or a combination.
  • Define research questions, prepare budgets and carry out negotiation with collaborators including literature review, trial protocols, dispatching formulations and follow up trial progress, visit trials, procuring data and reports, analyze data, prepare dossiers, processing invoices etc.
  • Be an expert and contact point regarding product registration and regulation across EU with focus on biostimulants and biological products group.
  • Maintaining close collaboration with European Biostimulants Industry Council.
  • Exploration and development of different novel and varied sources of organic and inorganic active ingredients as a source of biostimulants in plant nutrition segment through the strong expertise in Agronomy
  • Provide expert support to other colleagues in R&D and the product solutions and sales organization on topics related to biostimulants and plant nutrition.
  • Review and follow up of market product recommendations in conjunction with department R&D and technical managers.

Profile

  • Minimum of 5 years’ in-depth experience in relevant roles.
  • Higher post graduate degree in Ariculture and/or Crop Sciences. PhD in agronomy or Plant Physiology is a plus.
  • Strong expertise with field testing, data analysis and data reporting.
  • Conducting trans-disciplinary research is desirable.
  • Experience in writing commercial and technical (scientific) reports, dossiers and manuscripts.
  • In-depth understanding and expousure of the new EU Fertilizing Products Regulations legislature with strong focus on biostimulants.
  • Close collaboration with central crop nutrition products and product solutions departments and regional agronomists.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
