Scientist Assistant - Sustainability and Strategic Research

The Yara Global Innovation unit leads the transformation towards more sustainable and efficient food production by innovating our offerings and the way we work. Yara Agronomy and R&D (YARD) are responsible for developing new crop nutrition products and driving agronomic excellence within the organization. Crop nutrition products are the backbone of Yara’s offerings. R&D has the mandate to drive and execute the product development and innovation of Yara’s crop nutrition products, with a focus on sustainability and a high-value product portfolio.

 

Within the Agronomy & Sustainability Knowledge (ASK) team, the Sustainability & Strategic Research (SSR) group is responsible for developing the knowledge and fact base to assess the impact of Yara’s solutions regarding the environmental dimensions of sustainability and regenerative agriculture (i.e. soil, water, climate, and biodiversity). The unit is about to strengthen its capacity and has a vacant position for a Scientist Assistant - Sustainability and Strategic Research in Dülmen.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Maintenance of the N2O literature database and keeping it up to date.
  • Maintenance of the in-house N2O field trial database and keeping it up to date.
  • Analyze data from the N2O literature and field trial databases to generate information and examine open research questions related to N2O emissions from agricultural soils.
  • Support internal and external N2O research projects and decision making.
  • Support and conduct N2O research, field, and greenhouse trials.
  • Provide support to Yara colleagues in YARD, in regional sales organization, and to other units in Yara on topics regarding N2O emission from farmer fields.

Profile

 

  • Master's degree in agriculture, soil science, and/or crop science, with a focus on sustainability being advantageous.
  • Knowledge in data management and familiarity with data analysis programs, preferably "R."
  • Good knowledge of the biological C an N cycle in soils and first experience in field, greenhouse or lab trials are completing the profile
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent speaking and writing in English.

It is a permanent position with a primarily location of employment at the Yara Research Centre Hanninghof in Dülmen.
