About the Unit

Position is based at Yara Animal Nutrition South Africa (Pty) Ltd warehouse at the Durban (Umbogintwini) site.  

Profile

To coordinate the bagging and loading activities within the warehouse. The activities include bagging of product, ensuring product conformity, loading of trucks, containers with administrative duties. Provide support and coverage in all warehouse functions. This position is on a 12 hour shift basis, compressed work week, including every second weekend. (10.00am to 10.00pm)

Responsibilities

Summary of duties (not limited to)

• Assists with running the warehouse by substituting for colleagues in their absence.
• Notify shift leaders of any issues.
• Conduct daily cycle counts as per schedule.
• Conduct production verification.
• Product packaging: Tasks includes sewing, weighing of bags, working with robotics, spout filling.
• Obtain maximum output from continually bagging and loading products.
• Loading/offloading of products onto trucks and containers; tasks include hooking of bags, directing forklift drivers, directing truck drivers, and liaising with weighbridge.
• Issue work permits.
• Exercises Conduct within Yara code of ethics and Corporate Governance.
• Conduct daily housekeeping on plant and in warehouse.
• Ensure that all requirements and programs relating to safety standard and the OSH Act are carried out and adhered to with enthusiasm.
• Ensure that statutory training and other developmental courses are attended to.
• Assists artisans during stripping of equipment for repair. Opens, cleans and “boxes up” equipment when necessary.

Additional Information

Education, competencies and experience requirements:

• Matric (Grade 12)
• 5 years’ experience Packaging or loading of trucks and containers, logistics/warehousing.
• Forklift and or a payloader license and experience advantageous.
• Experience with co-ordination of administrative duties.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual work.
• Ability to lift and carry 25kg’s bags or 50kg (with some assistance)
• Related Tertiary qualifications will be advantageous.
