Facilities Operator - Forklift

About the Unit
The Yara North America Stockton Dry Terminal is located in Stockton California. It provides direct deep-water access to imported fertilizer for local markets. The 80,000 MT warehouse and terminal is located on the San Joaquin River approximately 90 miles upriver from the San Francisco Bay and employs 14 full time employees. The Facilities Operator - Forklift position performs all receiving, and shipping duties involving prepackaged products, maintains the warehouse for the safe and efficient storage of prepackaged products, and accurately weighs, records and palletizes both large and small bags of product for storage and shipment.
Responsibilities
- Unload fertilizer tote bags and stack them.
- Load fertilizer tote bags onto trucks.
- Weigh and record the volume of product in tote bags. Keep appropriate records.
- Coordinate with truck drivers for safe and efficient loading and unloading of trucks.
- Monitor the condition of all trucks and do not load sub-standard vehicles.
- Participate in all mandated safety training and exercises.
- Supplies various manual and computer-generated receipt and shipment reports, as directed by Terminal Manager.
- Train colleagues in warehouse and forklift operations; cross-train on pay-loader operation.
- Read, understand and implement HESQ manual in all matters pertaining to this job.
- Develop a general understanding of the Yara SAP system and ALS system.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Terminal Manager, including cross-training with other members of the terminal staff and assistance with vessel discharges.
- Maintain the warehouse and terminal grounds in a clean, safe and efficient manner at all times.
- Maintain the forklifts and all other warehouse equipment in a clean, safe and efficient manner at all times.
- Report any and all equipment problems to the Terminal Manager.
Profile
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of terminal experience
- Forklift Certification
- First aid, CPR, Blood borne Pathogen and AED certified is a plus
- Eligible for Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)
- Strong safety orientation
- Strong teamwork skills
- Strong concentration ability
- Solid process orientation
- Good maintenance skills
- Good product knowledge
Additional Information
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
- The position holder must be able to:
- Repetitively lift and carry (up to 50 lbs. bags)
- Use shovel to pick-up heavy cargo
- Pick-up heavy material (25-50 lbs.)
- Work in confined spaces
- Work at heights (up to 150 feet)
- Work on feet for several hours, including bending and kneeling
- Wear respiratory protection, in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR Parts 1910 & 1926
- Wear all types of personal protective equipment, including fall protection
- Differentiate colors (not be color-blind)
- Work outdoors/indoors under extreme temperatures
- Work overtime and work adjusted hours/workdays due to schedule changes when there is a need/requirement to deliver on terminal obligations.
Compensation Range
The starting compensation will range from $21 - $24/hr and is dependent on the candidate's level of experience.
