Product Manager - Biologicals

About the Unit

The YaraVita business has grown significantly in recent years and has continued ambitious growth objectives for its Biological products.  To meet this growth a new Global Production plant is currently being built in Howden, UK.  This exciting investment in UK agriculture is another sign of Yara’s commitment to increasing sales of these products, which are crucial for achieving food security and combating climate change.  

 

Set to be one of the largest of its kind in the world and the largest in the UK, the facility is expected to be operational by the end of 2025 and it will double Yara’s current production capacity.  YaraVita and Biological portfolio is an integral part of Yara’s decarbonization solutions for agriculture.

 

Reporting to the VP for UK & Ireland, this position will be a member of the Leadership Team and will actively contribute to develop the business towards more sustainable and efficient food production in the UK & Ireland.  This will help our customers and farmers reap the rewards as part of their crop nutrition programme.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement the market strategy for the YaraVita product group.                        
  • Conduct regional market, potential, and competition analysis.                        
  • Develop product, pricing, and appropriate strategies for each market.                        
  • Support the commercials teams in customer negotiations.                        
  • Develop technical concepts in collaboration with the agronomy team.                        
  • Lead product development and innovation initiatives.                        
  • Communicate with production regarding feasibility of new products/innovations.                        
  • Create marketing plans in collaboration with sales, marketing & agronomy teams.                         
  • Plan sales volumes in line with the business plan in coordination with commercial leaders.                        
  • Manage stock supply planning and inventory monitoring in collaboration with the supply chain.                        
  • Manage volume and financial performance for the YaraVita product group.                        
  • Foster long-term relationships with key customers by providing proactive support, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention.                        
  • Monitor regulations and ensure product and practice compliance.

Profile

  • Degree in Agriculture/Science/Business Marketing, FACTS qualification essential (BASIS preferred)                        
  • Relevant experience in senior commercial position, with at least 2 years in agriculture                        
  • Extensive Agronomic knowledge. Indepth understanding of the UK & Ireland agriculture sector (distributors, buying groups, independent agronomists)
  • Commercial understanding of the UK&I fertiliser market.                        
  • Commercial Acumen, Marketing, Agronomy, Strategic thinking                        
  • Communication skills, Understanding Customer and Farmer needs, Collaboration, Influence, Emotional intelligence, Problem-solving, Adaptability               
  • Willingness to travel extensively in UK & Ireland at key times of year                

Additional Information

This role has strategic importance and the the focus is not on the revenue of biologicals only but primarily on the profit margins these products generate. This includes evaluating the potential in light of changing regulations, Yara's strategic direction, and the importance of considering full package solutions for the Value Chain Partners segment also.
