Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team. As an Accountant for Africa, you will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations in Africa. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and a keen attention to detail. This role requires a reliable and organized individual who can work effectively to meet deadlines and contribute to the overall financial stability of our organization.
Responsibilities
Prepare and analyse financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Manage day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger entries.
Reconcile financial discrepancies and resolve any accounting issues or irregularities.
Ensure accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, employee expense reports, and customer payments.
Maintain and update accounting records and financial documentation, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing insights and recommendations to management based on financial analysis.
Conduct periodic audits to verify financial information, identify risks, and ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and management, to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and standards, ensuring compliance and implementing necessary adjustments in accounting processes.
Contribute to the development and enhancement of accounting policies and procedures, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
Managing the order book from units.
Track and analyse SGA, CRC including improvement of stock and debtors aging.
Perform monthly ICFR reconciliations to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Manage and maintain all statutory documentation from business units on a monthly basis.
Lead and present mid-month debtor review calls with business units.
Oversee and track CAPEX for all African units, ensuring proper allocation and reporting.
Collaborate with units to complete and analyse HFM Z7 forms, driving improvements where necessary.
Coordinate asset tagging processes across units.
Facilitate budget uploads for all units.
Provide support to units during external audits to ensure smooth and timely completion.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications such as CPA or ACCA are preferred.
Demonstrated experience as an Accountant, with 3–5 years of hands-on accounting expertise and exposure to operations across multiple countries.
Career stability showcasing advancement in previous roles.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures, with the ability to apply them effectively.
Proficiency in using accounting software and advanced knowledge of spreadsheet applications (e.g., MS Excel).
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management and analysis.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies.
Advanced proficiency in financial reporting and financial statement analysis.
Knowledge of relevant accounting regulations, standards, and compliance requirements.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and present financial information clearly.
