Regulatory Affairs Manager (Biologicals)

About the Unit
Based in Brackengate Cape Town or Fourways Johannesburg, South Africa, Yara Africa Fertilizers is recruiting for a Regulatory Affairs Manager (Biologicals) to be responsible for securing and maintaining regulatory approvals for the company's portfolio of biostimulants, biological fertilizers and foliar fertilizers. The role ensures compliance with applicable local and international regulations through the management of product registrations, regulatory submissions, labeling, and lifecycle activities. Working closely with R&D, Quality, Production and Commercial teams, the incumbent provides regulatory guidance to support product development and market access.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement regulatory strategies for the approval of new products.
- Assess regulatory risks and recommend mitigation strategies to support business objectives while maintaining compliance.
- Prepare, compile, review, and submit product registration dossiers and technical documentation to regulatory authorities.
- Support the identification of regulatory pathways for new product introductions and expansion into new territories.
- Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality teams to ensure products meet regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and manage the regulatory lifecycle of products, including renewals and updates to registrations and labels.
- Provide expert advice and technical support to commercial teams, distributors, and customers on regulatory matters when required.
- Represent the company in meetings with regulatory authorities and in industry forums;
- Stay up-to-date with relevant local and international regulations for foliar and biological fertilizers.
- Support internal and external audits related to regulatory compliance and product stewardship.
- Maintain regulatory databases, documentation systems, and compliance records to ensure data integrity and inspection readiness.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance regulatory processes, efficiency, and compliance standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Plant Science, Soil Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- A postgraduate qualification in Regulatory Affairs, Plant Nutrition, Biotechnology, Crop Science, or a related field will be advantageous.
- Professional registration with a relevant scientific or agricultural body will be beneficial.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in South African regulatory affairs within the agricultural, crop protection, plant nutrition, fertilizer, biostimulant, biological, or related industries.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience preparing and submitting regulatory dossiers and managing product registrations for Biostimulants and Fertilizers
- Minimum 3 years experience interacting with regulatory authorities and industry associations.
- Proven experience supporting new product development, registration strategies, and product lifecycle management.
- Candidates must have the legal right to work in South Africa
