About the role

Yara is seeking a Process Operator to join our team on a 2-year fixed term contract at our Technical Ammonium Nitrate plant.

Reporting to the Shift Superintendent, you’ll play a key role in keeping our Utilities, Nitric Acid, Ammonium Nitrate, and Bulk Handling areas running safely and efficiently.

This is a hands-on role covering both field operations and control room duties, working a 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off shift pattern that gives you plenty of time to recharge and enjoy life in the Pilbara.

You’ll also have opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives as part of a supportive team.

What you’ll do:

Operate and monitor plant systems across multiple areas
Perform start-ups, shutdowns, and routine checks
Prepare equipment for maintenance and follow safe work practices
Keep accurate logs and records for troubleshooting and compliance
Conduct sampling and basic analysis
Support first-line maintenance and improvement initiatives
Participate in the site Emergency Response Team (ERT)

What We're Looking For

A Process Plant Operator Certificate III or equivalent
Minimum of 5 years within a position in the Chemical/petrochemical industry, preferably in a Nitric Acid or Ammonium Nitrate Plant environment
Demonstrated ability to contribute positively and collaboratively within a team environment
Competent usage of Excel Spreadsheets, Word, Outlook and other Microsoft modules
Fluent written and verbal English is essential
Australian/New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency
