Yara Pilbara Fertilisers operates one of the largest ammonia production sites in the world, and we’ve taken the process further downstream with our Technical Ammonium Nitrate (TAN) plant, a joint venture with Orica.

Together with ENGIE, we’re also building a renewable hydrogen facility to produce renewable ammonia.

About the Role

Looking for an exciting new challenge?

Yara is seeking a Process Operator to join our team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Shift Superintendent, you’ll play a key role in keeping our Utilities and Ammonia Plant running smoothly.

From water treatment and boilers to compressors, valves, and cryogenic storage, you’ll be hands-on with the systems that keep our operations moving to ensure everything runs safely and efficiently.

This is a dynamic role in a major ammonia plant in Karratha, working a 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off shift pattern that gives you plenty of time to recharge and enjoy life in the Pilbara

You’ll also have opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives as part of a supportive team.

 

What you’ll do: 

  • Operate and monitor plant systems across multiple areas
  • Perform start-ups, shutdowns, and routine checks
  • Prepare equipment for maintenance and ensure safe work practices
  • Keep accurate logs and records for troubleshooting and compliance
  • Conduct sampling and basic water analysis
  • Support first-line maintenance and improvement initiatives

What We’re Looking For

  • Certificate 3 in Process Plant Operations (or tertiary qualifications in process/chemical engineering)
  • Minimum of 5 years within a position in the Chemical/petrochemical industry, preferably in an Ammonia or Methanol Plant environment
  • Emergency response experience (desirable)
  • Competent usage of SAP, Excel, Word, Outlook and other Microsoft modules
  • Fluent written and verbal English
  • Australian/New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency
