Production Superintendent - YPN

About the role
This permanent full-time role reports to the Production Manager YPN, and plays a critical part in managing the shift operations within the Technical Ammonium Nitrate (TAN) plant.
The position is responsible for the safe and effective execution of daily operations, as well as coordinating the interface between operations, maintenance, and projects.
What you’ll do day-to-day
- Lead and develop the shift superintendents, gatekeeper, and shutdown/turnaround coordinator through performance-based leadership and capability development, ensuring a skilled team prepared for normal operations, start-ups, shutdowns, and emergency scenarios
- Coordinate and resolve operational, maintenance, and project interface challenges through effective collaboration with maintenance superintendents and capital project managers, ensuring safe and efficient execution of all activities
- Understand and manage risks in line with Yara’s corporate guidance and steering documentation
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the YPN TAN plant, fostering a strong improvement culture and ensuring initiatives are effectively delivered

About you
- Certificate IV in Process Plant Operations, Chemical Engineering degree (desirable), or equivalent knowledge
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in the chemical or petrochemical industry, ideally within a Nitric Acid and/or Ammonium Nitrate plant environment
- Proven experience leading or coordinating operations teams in a high-risk processing environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate across operations, maintenance, and projects
- Accountability and collaboration are key traits for success in this role
- Extensive experience with Permit to Work (PTW) and Management of Change (MoC) systems
- Strong analytical capability with a proactive, solutions-focused approach
- Experience using SAP or similar systems and a good understanding of operational processes
- Fluent English (verbal and written) is essential
- Australian/New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency
About the Unit
Yara Pilbara is part of Yara International, a global crop nutrition company. The Pilbara site is one of the world’s largest ammonia production facilities, with downstream processing through the Yara Pilbara Nitrates Technical Ammonium Nitrate plant, a joint venture with Orica. Together with ENGIE, Yara Pilbara is also developing a renewable hydrogen plant to produce renewable ammonia.
