The Yara Pilbara Fertilisers' plant is one of the largest ammonia production sites in the world and we have also taken the ammonia process further downstream with the Yara Pilbara Nitrates Technical Ammonium Nitrate (TAN) plant, a joint venture with Orica. Together with ENGIE, Yara Pilbara will also build a renewable hydrogen plant to produce renewable ammonia.

Responsibilities

Looking for an exciting new challenge? Yara are seeking applications for their permanent role of Reliability Engineer. Reporting to the Reliability Superintendent, the Reliability Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of equipment and assets throughout their lifecycle. The role involves analysing data, identifying potential failure modes, and implementing strategies to mitigate risks and improve reliability. 

 

The Reliability Engineer will: 

  • Conduct reliability assessments and risk analyses for plant vulnerabilities, and threats specific to mechanical and rotary equipment. 
  • Analyse failure data and perform Bad Actor Analysis to identify trends and root causes of reliability issues. 
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in reliability at site. 
  • Develop and implement reliability-centered design standards and guidelines for new equipment procurement. 
  • Collaborate with OEM, Project and Production teams to ensure reliability requirements are met throughout the equipment lifecycle. 
  • Provide technical expertise and support for troubleshooting and resolving reliability issues. 
  • Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and emerging technologies in reliability engineering.   
  • Understand and apply Reliability Centered Maintenance and PM optimisation techniques. 
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA), facilitate Criticality Ranking, conduct Failure Mode and Effect analysis (FMEA) studies, and publish reports relating to reliability concerns. 
  • Be an active member of the Reliability Champion Team to drive and deliver continuous improvement objectives and initiatives. 
  • Adhere to the Life Cycle Asset Management (LCAM) process throughout the entire life cycle of new assets. 
  • Conduct reliability, availability and maintainability studies of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and other safety and security systems. Contribute to HAZOP, LOPA and SIL studies related to mechanical design specifications. 
  • Understand and implement Rotating Machinery Health Monitoring (System-1), Condition Monitoring Analysis, Lube Oil Management Programs and other predictive maintenance programs. 
  • Develop optimised asset maintenance plans that includes value-added preventive maintenance tasks, and effective utilisation of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies. 
  • Develop engineering solutions for repetitive failures and other issues adversely affecting plant operations,  including capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance. Utilise data analysis techniques such as:  
    • Six Sigma (6σ) Methodology 
    • Root-cause and Root-Cause Failure Analysis (RCA, RCFA) 
    • Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) 
    • Threat mitigation 

Profile

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering 
  • Full Member of the Institute of Engineers, Australia (MIAust) is preferred. 
  • International Reliability and Asset Management Certifications such as CMRP, CRE, CRL or CAMA, are preferred. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar industry, such as petrochemical, gas processing or oil refining. 
  • Proven experience in reliability engineering or a related field. 
  • Experience with rotating equipment and condition monitoring is desirable. 
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and reliability modelling is desirable. 
  • SAP Power user and intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office suite, Power BI experience, Asset Management software experience (such as ProACT, Meridium, Apollo Reality Charting, AVSim and  RCM Cost module from Isograph or other equivalent) 
  • Fluent English (verbal and written) is essential.
