Turnaround Superintendent - Technical Ammonium Nitrate (2 Years Fixed Term)

Our operations in Western Australia have created a downstream processing precinct in the resource rich Pilbara region. We have two facilities, using natural gas as the key input, located in an approved strategic industrial estate established by the Australian and Western Australian governments. The Yara Pilbara Fertilisers plant is one of the largest ammonia production sites in the world and we export ammonia to domestic and global markets from the nearby port of Dampier, which is mainly used in fertilisers to help feed the world. We have taken the ammonia process further downstream with the Yara Pilbara Nitrates Technical Ammonium Nitrate (TAN) plant. A joint venture with Orica, the facility converts ammonia into a material crucial for the mines located throughout the Pilbara. Yara Pilbara and ENGIE will also build a renewable hydrogen plant to produce renewable ammonia. As part of the ARENA Renewable Hydrogen Deployment Funding Round, the Australian government is providing strong support for this project with a A$42.5 million grant. Scheduled for completion in 2023, the facility will be one of the world’s first industrial-scale renewable hydrogen production operations.

Responsibilities


Looking for an exciting new challenge? Yara are seeking applications for their 2-year fixed-term role. Reporting to the Turnaround Manager, the Turnaround Superintendent is responsible for assisting the Turnaround Manager within the integrated turnaround team through the planning, scheduling and execution of the Technical Ammonia Nitrate plant schedule of works.

 

The primary responsibilities include:

• Delivery of the Technical Ammonia Nitrate plant turnaround event, shutdown within the premises which include safety and environmental action plans, driving safety behaviours as well as compliance to all appropriate work processes

• Leading the event execution schedule within time and budget constraints

• Controlling scope, establishing critical paths and optimising resource utilization during execution stages

• Ensuring compliance of the turnaround key performance indicators which includes safety, schedule, cost, quality and reliability

• Ability to gather information, assess alternate solutions, conduct risk analysis, and implement solutions

• Be a proactive member, in internal and external resources, to achieve turnaround deliverables

• Integrating associated capital projects into the turnaround, on time, on budget and with the expected results

• Evaluation of turnaround performance and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.

Profile

Required:

· University degree, preferable in a natural science or engineering

· Senior leadership experience at a management level for at least 10 years

· Around 15 years of experience in the chemical/petrochemical industry

· Turnarounds to the worksite in a proactive manner

· Experience with introducing major improvement initiatives which have been successful with good turnaround management and successful implementation

· Fluent English is essential.

· SAP knowledge is desirable

· Intermediate Microsoft Office skills

· Australian/New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency. Temporary work visa holders are not eligible for this role.
