About Yara Pilbara
The Yara Pilbara Fertilisers' plant is one of the largest ammonia production sites in the world and we have also taken the ammonia process further downstream with the Yara Pilbara Nitrates Technical Ammonium Nitrate (TAN) plant, a joint venture with Orica. Together with ENGIE, Yara Pilbara is also building a renewable hydrogen plant to produce renewable ammonia.

We are always looking for ambitious and curious-minded colleagues who are keen to make a difference, whilst residing in the nearby coastal city of Karratha, Western Australia, a key community in the region with a resource focus and a relaxed, friendly lifestyle. All Karratha-based roles offered are on a residential basis.
Responsibilities
Yara Pilbara is seeking a motivated Electrical Engineering student looking for an exciting opportunity to expand their education through vacation employment over the holiday break.
The individual we are seeking will share Yara’s core values of Accountability, Collaboration, Ambition, and Curiosity.
Our program will:
- Run from December 2025 to February 2026 (aligned with your university break).
- Allow you to work closely with and be supported by your assigned mentor (a Yara engineer) and an allocated buddy (a Yara Graduate or Employee) for the duration of the program.
- Give you the opportunity to work on two projects over 12 weeks. You will develop and deliver a presentation on one of your completed projects to the Yara Pilbara Leadership team.
- Provide you with a vacation student progress review by your mentor during the program.
- Help you develop your technical and professional skills through hands-on experience as an engineer working for Yara Pilbara.

Profile
- All candidates must submit a cover letter and resume as part of the application.
- Applicants must be currently completing their penultimate year, or final year, of studying a Master’s or Honours of Professional Engineering specialising in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
- Applications will be accepted only from students attending a Western Australian University.
- Only applicants with permanent work rights in Australia will be eligible to apply.
- As this position is based in the Karratha, WA, candidates must be willing to relocate to Karratha for the full 12-week duration of the program. Yara Pilbara does not offer any fly-in fly-out arrangements for its employees; this also applies to vacation students. Vehicle relocation and furnished accommodation will be provided as part of the vacation position.
