Our Direct Procurement (DP) team plays a vital role in the sourcing of key materials like Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potash, Chemicals, Carbonates, Coating, and Energy, while managing global supply chain operations and maritime logistics. Each year, DP sources around 15 million tonnes of materials, and Yara Maritime Logistics handles over 17 million tonnes of product. Our team of professionals, based in Oslo, Brussels, Geneva, São Paulo, Singapore and Cartagena, ensures reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable supply to Yara’s global operations.
 
We are now looking for a Charterer to join our Maritime Logistics team within Direct Procurement at Yara. This is a unique opportunity to be at the center of global supply chain operations, helping ensure the flow of essential materials that support sustainable agriculture worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Chartering activities covering all areas of sea transport and related logistics services in the dry bulk segment ranging from coasters to Supramax sizes.
  • Close coordination and collaboration with Yara's production plants, commercial units and market segments.
  • Support the various business units with market information and freight estimates
  • Spot chartering of vessels, related negotiations, follow-up and reporting.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with shipowners and brokers.
  • COA negotiations.
  • Contributing to and implementing Yara's maritime logistics strategy.
  • Continuous follow-up and analysis of global shipping markets.
  • Participation in various logistics projects.
  • Keep our voyage management system IMOS updated.
  • Actively contribute to the departments freight savings initiative programme.
  • Identify process improvements in the way of working.
  • Working across different time zones. Flexibility and availability outside of normal working hours.

Profile

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 5 years experience with short or deep sea shipments
  • Previous experience working with shipowners/charterers/brokers in the dry cargo chartering department
  • Structured and analytical
  • Organized and accountable
  • Pro-active and problem solving mindset
  • Teamplayer, adaptable, and enthusiastic
  • Knowledge of international maritime regulations
  • Ability to interpret and apply Charter Party terms
  • Extensive network in shipping industry
  • Fluent in English with excellent written & verbal communications skills
  • Good IT skills

Additional Information

This position is based in Oslo, where local terms & conditions will apply. The role will require some travelling to Yara sites and locations worldwide.
