Communications Manager

About the Unit

The Corporate Communications team is part of the Corporate Affairs, Communications & Brand department in Yara Corporate Development. The team holds a global responsibility to position Yara with strong internal and external communication, and to strengthen the reputation among external stakeholders and increase engagement among employees.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, and highly professional Communications Manager for our Corporate Communications team. The Communication Manager will report to the VP Corporate Communications & Digital Services and work from our headquarters in Oslo. 

 

As a communications professional you will play a crucial role in shaping Yara’s narrative and impactful content across our corporate communication channels and external media. The role will leverage existing communication channels, messaging, and formats in a dynamic business environment, managing a range of stakeholders and issues in a fast paced environment. The role will work closely with other corporate functions and management on various projects requiring communication advice and support, and collaborate with other Yara units globally, developing narratives to grow knowledge, reputation, and culture.

 

The Communications Manager will enroll in the media team with frequent interaction with journalists and other external stakeholders and will help manage potential crisis and issues with communication support.

What you will do

  • Handle incoming media requests, enrolling in the 24/7 press duty team
  • Proactively pitch stories to media
  • Support the organization with crisis communication and issues mitigation
  • Develop communication plans and strategic messaging for company channels and external engagements
  • Support executives with communication needs including speech writing

What you contribute

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications, journalism or related field
  • Minimum five years of working with corporate communications, journalism or public relations, preferably with international experience
  • Familiarity with how media works and experience in managing relationships with external stakeholders in business, politics, and civil society, both nationally and globally
  • Fluent in both Norwegian and English, with excellent writing skills in both languages
  • Experiences from crisis communication and issue mitigation is a requirement
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of the responsibilities within the role
