Solution Manager, Digital Reliability

About the Unit

Yara was founded in 1905 to solve an emerging famine crisis in Europe. Today Yara is a global company operating in more than 160 countries and employing more than 17,000 individuals – all working hard to fulfill our mission of responsibly feeding the world and protecting the plant.

Being the world’s leading crop nutrition company, Yara is also the world's largest producer of ammonia, nitrates and NPKs. Our Production segment is thus an integral building block for delivering on our mission – with a clearly stated ambition to become world-leading on metrics such as safety, environmental footprint, quality and production costs. Long term, the target is the “Plant of the Future” with zero emissions, and low capex/opex. Building on a lean transformation, we are now elevating our focus on digital solutions to help us achieve this ambition.

To lead this effort, we have established a global unit called Digital Production and plan to significantly grow our efforts within this field.

About the role

We believe our significant operational data in combination with digital technologies could help us significantly improve uptime. When realized, this would have direct positive consequences on production volumes, quality, and emissions - to name a few. The Digital Reliability solution team will self-organize in terms of how to best realize this value.

Digital Production is a new unit. Building from scratch means that you will have to get into practical details. In return you will work with some of the most exceptional people in the industry on our journey to feed the world and protect the planet. How many other places can you do that?

  • Work with key stakeholders to define and implement the Yara digital reliability operating model
  • Foster a culture of openness where ideas are collected from a broad group of people

  • Higher university degree (Master level, PhD, or equivalent) in a relevant academic discipline e.g. mechanical engineering, reliability engineering
  • Entrepreneurial mind-set– while pragmatic, with a track record of drive and achievement; ability to drive change and navigate ambiguity when building new capabilities in an enterprise setting
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience (e.g., reliability, engineering, data driven software development projects, etc.)
  • Proven experience in partnering with both operational environments and data science communities; experience with data and data-driven solutions (including machine learning) and understanding of the science behind them
  • Deep knowledge in the areas of asset management and reliability engineering principles including e.g. mechanical systems and component Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (FMEA), reliability modeling, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Remaining Useful Life (RUL) estimation
  • Deep knowledge and awareness of state-of-the art theories and applications in the field of Condition and Performance Monitoring (CPM) including practical experience in how to leverage recent advances in AI and Machine Learning and combine with more classical theoretical techniques
  • Excellent business judgment, strategic mind-set, motivation and “can do” attitude; ability to challenge established practices and processes when required
  • Proven experience in leading teams and keen on attracting, developing and retaining top talent
