UX Design Manager (f/m/d)

About Yara

We at Yara are part of a global network, collaborating to profitably and responsibly solve some of the world's key challenges - resource scarcity, food insecurity and environmental change.

Yara People, Process, and Digitalization (YPD) has the overall responsibility for Yara’s people and culture development, as well as for technology, architecture, and solutions that enable the digitalization of Yara’s core processes and operations.

By bringing people and transformation resources, as well as process, digital, and tech capabilities into one cross-functional area, YPD is set to accelerate the transformation.

About the Unit

In Digital Production, we believe our operational data in combination with digital technologies can help us to significantly improve reliability and performance of our production facilities.

We are developing the Yara Digital Production Platform (DPP), a digital platform built on AWS, ensuring uniform data access to all our production facilities. On top of DPP we build or integrate scalable, solid and user-friendly digital products that support our employees at the sites or in global functions to further improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and safety of our processes and operations.

Our unit of roughly 60 employees is responsible end-to-end for the impact of the digital products. In other words, we establish the vision, develop, and deploy our products at the production sites.

About the role

Design and UX are of increasing importance for the work we do, and we are therefore building dedicated competence in the team. As our UX Design Manager, you will get to shape this team, and have a big impact on how our (heavy industry) users interact with digital technology during their daily work.

The UX Design Manager will be part of the Digital Production management team and report to VP Digital Production.

This is a permanent role, hybrid model. You can be based in the following locations: Berlin, Brussels, Olso.

What you will be doing

  • Define and implement our design methodologies, principles, tools and systems
  • Build an industry leading team of UX professionals and visual designers. Mentor and develop each individual
  • Lead and deliver all aspects of our product design as an embedded part of product teams – including user research, wireframing, prototyping, launch of product and post-launch monitoring and improvement.
  • Liaise with product teams to ensure usability data is being captured and corresponding actions defined
  • Develop a deep understanding of, and passionately advocate for, the user. Ensure product design strategy is aligned to user needs. At the same time ensure design decisions that balance the user’s intent with business needs
  • Identify and collaborate with design partners as relevant

What you will bring

  • B.Sc/M.Sc degree in Interaction Design, Industrial Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Behavioral Psychology or similar
  • Experience in leadership role, including managing a team
  • Proven experience in user research, interaction design, UX, product management or related discipline. Experience in a Business-to-Employee (B2E) context is a plus.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates process and breadth, and the ability to turn ideas into a compelling solution
  • You focus on results, and get things done.
  • Understanding of process industry, industrial systems, decision support systems and human-in-the-loop automation is a clear benefit
  • Fluent in English. Other languages are a plus.
