Financial Controller

About the Unit

The Yara Pilbara Fertilisers' plant is one of the largest ammonia production sites in the world and we have also taken the ammonia process further downstream with the Yara Pilbara Nitrates Technical Ammonium Nitrate (TAN) plant, a joint venture with Orica. Together with ENGIE, Yara Pilbara are also building a renewable hydrogen plant to produce renewable ammonia.

Responsibilities

Looking for an exciting new challenge? Yara are seeking applications for their permanent full-time role of Financial Controller. 

Reporting to the CFO, the Financial Controller is a key strategic partner responsible for leading the financial integrity, operational excellence, and transformation of the finance function for Yara Pilbara. This role ensures robust financial governance while driving digital innovation, performance insights, and value creation across the business. 

The Financial Controller will: 

Strategic Financial Leadership 

Lead the preparation and continuous improvement of budgets, forecasts, and long-term financialplans. 

Provide strategic insights to support business planning, investment decisions, and risk management. 

Partner with the CFO and leadership team to align financial strategy with business objectives. 

Financial Reporting & Compliance 

Oversee accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with IFRS, Yara Group policies, andstatutory requirements. 

Manage month-end close, financial statement preparation, and external audit processes. 

Ensure strong internal controls and compliance with tax (GST, FBT, payroll tax, income tax) and regulatory obligations. 

Digital Finance & Innovation 

Champion the modernization of finance systems and tools, including ERP and business intelligence platforms. 

Drive automation, data analytics, and AI adoption to enhance forecasting, reporting, and decision-making. 

Continuously improve financial processes to increase efficiency and agility. 

Business Partnering & Stakeholder Engagement 

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide financial insights and support strategic initiatives. 

Liaise with Yara Group Accounting, the Audit Committee, and external auditors and regulators. 

Support treasury, insurance, and cash flow management to optimize financial resilience. 

Leadership & Capability Development 

Lead and develop a high-performing finance and administration team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning. 

Oversee transactional finance functions (AP, AR, payroll) with a focus on service excellence and process improvement. 

Role model Yara’s values and leadership principles ((Live the Strategy, Be the Change, Explore and Adapt, Build Trust), contributing to a strong organizational culture.

Profile

Required: 

Degree in Accounting, Commerce or Finance  

CPNCA/ACCA Qualified 

Minimum 5+ years previous experience in a similar role within a high volume, multi-currency group  

Strong understanding of IFRS and AASB 

Previous experience in SAP essential, with experience in Hyperion desirable  

Broad exposure and experience in tax compliance 

Self-starter, proactive, strong work ethic 

Excellent organisational and communication skills  

Attention to detail, high level of commitment  

Strong analytical skills 

Fluent verbal and written English is essential. 

Australian/New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency. Temporary work visa holders are not eligible for this role.
