Yara International has an ambitious strategic agenda to be the crop nutrition company for the future. Our crop nutrition products and solutions help produce the food required for the growing world population. Yara is taking lead in the development towards sustainable agriculture, and is also embarking on a journey to decarbonise its operations, to contribute to solving the challenges which the agricultural industry is facing globally. To achieve our ambition, Yara have taken the lead in developing digital farming tools for precision farming, and work closely with partners throughout the food value chain to improve the efficiency and sustainability of food production. Through our focus on clean ammonia production, Yara aim to enable the hydrogen economy, driving a green transition of shipping, fertiliser production and other energy intensive industries.  Yara is actively pursuing opportunities to be a part of Australia’s hydrogen future.

Yara’s Australian operations form part of the Asia region that employs 1600 employees across 19 countries. In Australia, Yara is responsible for the operation and management of an existing world class liquid ammonia production facility located on the Burrup Peninsula, near Karratha in Western Australia, in addition to an adjoining Technical Ammonium Nitrate production facility (TAN Plant) which is owned through an incorporated joint venture between Orica Limited (Orica) and Yara that supplies TAN (which is used in the production of explosives) to mining customers in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
