We are seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Manager, Engineering & Asset Optimization to strengthen operational performance and ensure safety and technical excellence across our ammonia facilities.
Profile
Reporting to the Senior Manager – Production, this role provides strategic and hands-on leadership in technical plant assessments, operational engineering support, asset optimization, and capital project delivery. The successful candidate will lead a team of engineers, work closely with the Production teams, and drive plant reliability, efficiency, and long-term sustainability. A key focus of the role is fostering a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring that engineering and operational decisions are both safe and efficient, and aligned with business priorities.
This is a Manager-level position.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related field).
- PMP certification preferred.
- Advanced training in asset management, project management, continuous improvement, or operational excellence would be an asset.
Experience:
- More than 10 years of experience in process plant engineering, with strong exposure to ammonia manufacturing.
- At least 5 years in a managerial role leading engineering or technical teams.
- Proven success in asset optimization, capital project management, continuous improvement, and process enhancement initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience providing engineering leadership and driving plant performance improvements.
- Experience managing capital value processes (CVP) and implementing management of change (MOC) practices in a production environment.
- Knowledge of raw material accounting, conversion efficiency, and associated production reporting systems to support operational and business decisions.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of process plant engineering, asset management, and performance optimization.
- Skilled in technical plant assessments, risk analysis, management of change (MOC), and implementing sustainable improvements.
- Proficiency in capital value process (CVP), capital project planning, budgeting, and execution.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Technical Operating Standards (TOPS), Human and Organizational Performance Standards (HOPS), and relevant industry codes and standards.
- Expertise in raw material conversion efficiency, production KPI monitoring, and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, RCM).
- Familiarity with regulatory and safety standards (OSHA, HSE).
- Strong stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Proficiency with CMMS (SAP preferred), MS Office, and project management software.

Responsibilities of the position are but not limited to:
- Oversee the planning, design, and execution of capital projects, ensuring alignment with CVP guidelines and delivering business value.
- Ensure management of change (MOC) procedures are applied consistently for modifications, improvements, and new technology adoption.
- Ensure compliance with TOPS, HOPS, regulatory requirements, and industry codes and standards.
- Lead plant technical assessments to identify risks, opportunities, and optimization initiatives.
- Drive asset optimization with a continuous improvement approach, improving equipment reliability, efficiency, and cost performance.
- Provide operational engineering support to Production teams, troubleshooting issues, and enhancing plant productivity.
- Review and approve engineering documentation, including design bases, reports, and modification requests.
- Promote innovation and adoption of new technologies to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Manage budgets and resources for technical projects.
- Mentor and develop engineering talent, building a high-performing technical team.
- Collaborate closely with Production, HSE, and other departments to achieve plant-wide performance goals.
