Sales Agronomist

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, the Sales Agronomist has responsibility for supporting Yara’s sales activities related to the defined Saskatchewan territory.  The Sales Agronomist will utilize their demonstrated skills in questioning, active listening, agronomy and business to uncover solutions that meet the needs of the retail and farm customers. The Sales Agronomist will work in close cooperation with the other team members to actively pursue opportunities to position Yara’s crop nutrition solutions through meeting with retails, farmers, consultants, and driving demand generation activities.  The position has some flexibility on location but must reside in SK. We place a high value on character, learning agility, and customer focus.   • Develop relationship with customers and determine needs through demonstrated sales skills
  • Drive sales growth by creating demand at the retail and farmer level and execute on the business plan in the defined territory by conducting training/education sessions, farmer meetings, and presentations.
  • Be a technical and commercial resource and provide presence for Yara products at retail local level as well as at farm level.
  • Plan and execute demo trials and data collection and organize field days in conjunction with retailers and farmers
  • Maintain and populate a CRM database to capture market knowledge and relevance of Yara crop solutions
  • Work closely with Market Development, Marketing, Product Management and Digital teams to execute crop specific business strategies
  • Provide information on crop nutrition and biological trends as far as crops, customers, digital and competitor activity
  • Generate insights of farmer practices, content for digital promotion, engagement with farmers and retails
  • Create newsletters, blogs, or technical pieces for distribution.

Education Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or Ag related field (An equivalent combination or education, training, and relevant experience will be considered)
  • 1-3 years working experience in similar role and industries, preferably with value added fertilizers and/or bio stimulant exposure
  • Experience making presentations to small or large audiences
  • Strong organization and planning skills
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of Western Canadian fertility practices
  • Proficient in MS office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
