Director, Crop & Digital Incubation China

There are more than 500 million smallholder farms globally. 2.5 billion people depend on Smallholder Communities for their food and livelihoods. Smallholder regions are characterized by low living standards, high rates of illiteracy and low agricultural productivity. Yara's mission is "Responsibly Feed the World and Protect the Planet". Key to achieving this is enabling thriving Smallholder Communities. At Yara, the Smallholders Digital Team is part of the Crop and Digital Solutions Unit. 

About Crop and Digital Solutions

Yara aims to be the crop nutrition company for the future and is leading the development of sustainable agriculture and digital tools to contribute to solving global agricultural challenges. We have a worldwide presence with sales teams in ~150 countries and around 17,000 employees. Yara Farming Solutions, will lead the transformation towards more sustainable and efficient food production, by innovating our offerings and the way we work. Crop and Digital Solutions is responsible developing and scaling new “on-farm” digital and integrated tools and solutions for an efficient and transparent food system.

Responsibilities
  • Representing Crop & Digital Solutions in within-country management team. Define the Crop & Digital Solutions strategy, priorities and agenda for China together with the local leadership team, across the transform portfolio of new revenue models, digital services, new markets, new channels.

  • Full accountability for building China Crop & Digital Incubation growth strategy, GTM experimentation, Continuous Research & Customer Success, Overall Market Offer/Business/Service model - in partnership with the local unit.

  • Align with and support product development team for product validation, roll-out and upgrades in including representing market requirements for roadmap planning.

  • Leadership towards local incubation team members including line management of digital growth specialists.

  • End to end ownership of go-to-market strategies, country legal clearance and compliance, commercial business case, budget and resource requirements.

Profile
  • Experience in an expanding B2B and B2C digital solutions portfolio in China

  • Direct leadership/management experience of at least two full cycle digital innovation and growth projects/products in China

  • Team management in an international matrix environment with specialist resources (e.g. sales & marketing, technology, digital, operations, etc).

  • Awareness and understanding of new digitally-enabled business models in the agricultural space.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of China’s technology space and regulatory environment.
