Responsibilities

Job Summary

The role requires deep expertise in doing business in China and in how technology is reshaping business models and growth. The Digital Lead must possess in‑depth knowledge of Yara’s core business, including the needs of distribution and retail channels as well as farmers, and serve as the subject‑matter authority on applying digital technologies including AI to drive growth, efficiency, and value creation.

The position leads cross‑functional collaboration across Yara Corporate, the YAA region, Yara China(YCN)bnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, DVCS —spanning commercial, marketing, agronomy innovation, AI and digital teams—to drive the ideation and conceptualisation of viable digital solutions. This includes developing robust business cases, defining user and product requirements, leading technical product development, and driving internal and external onboarding of digital solutions across channels and farming communities. The role is accountable for measuring, tracking, and reporting business outcomes resulting from the deployment and adoption of AI and digital solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be the digital business partner to the core business YCN.
  • Partner closely with YCN senior leadership and core business teams to conceptualize, research, and define the digital product strategy, establishing clear priorities, roadmaps, and long‑term value creation pathways and driving use of AI.
  • Provide strategic leadership to the China DVCS team, setting direction, building capabilities, and ensuring strong execution across all digital initiatives.
  • Oversee the development and evaluation of user and product requirements, ensuring alignment with business needs, market realities, and Yara’s commercial and channel strategies.
  • Lead the change management agenda for the digital transformation journey, driving clear communication, stakeholder alignment, and market readiness to secure strong buy‑in and adoption.
  • Assess local market dynamics and partner ecosystems, shaping portfolio priorities, embedding local needs into product lines, and guiding the development of effective go‑to‑market strategies for digital products.
  • Steer the design and execution of Go‑To‑Market plans, accelerating market introduction, awareness, and adoption among farmers, channel partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Lead, inspire, and develop in‑country DVCS and IT team members, cultivating a high‑performance, collaborative, and innovation‑driven culture. Build up core digital capabilities in Yara China.
  • Drive the conceptualization of new business models and initiatives in collaboration with YCN teams, expanding digital product and service opportunities across markets, channels, and partnerships.
  • Champion the innovation and incubation of integrated digital solutions, ensuring they are tailored to the needs of channels and farmers and positioned to deliver strong business impact.
  • Monitor and evaluate business outcomes from digital solution deployment, establishing accountability for adoption, performance, and progress against defined targets.

 

Profile

  • Proven leadership with a strong passion for leveraging digital technologies to transform business, grounded in experience at the intersection of agriculture, digital innovation, and commercial value creation.
  • Extensive experience leading digital transformation, including digital product development, digital operations, or digital marketing, with a track record of delivering tangible business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and develop high‑performing teams, fostering trust, collaboration, and strong working relationships across the China organization.
  • Strong record of driving ambitious digital product and business model innovation, particularly in areas such as core‑business digitalisation, new channel enablement, digital value propositions, and food chain solution development.
  • Exceptional conceptual and strategic thinking capabilities, combined with the willingness and ability to take a hands‑on approach to execution and operational delivery.
  • Deep understanding of Yara’s business, including products, business models, markets, opportunities, and customer needs across the diverse regions of China.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and people‑leadership skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate, and drive alignment across global and local teams, always focused on delivering the best outcomes for farmers and Yara.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder‑influencing capabilities, with the ability to build credibility and trusted networks across the organization.
  • High degree of curiosity, creativity, and agility, with the ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing contexts, and lead teams through ambiguity.
  • Minimum of 10 years of management experience, preferably in digital, product, commercial, or transformation leadership roles.
