There are more than 500 million smallholder farms globally. 2.5 billion people depend on Smallholder Communities for their food and livelihoods. Smallholder regions are characterized by low living standards, high rates of illiteracy and low agricultural productivity. Yara's mission is "Responsibly Feed the World and Protect the Planet". Key to achieving this is enabling thriving Smallholder Communities. At Yara, the Smallholders Digital Team is part of the Crop and Digital Solutions Unit. 

About Crop and Digital Solutions

Yara aims to be the crop nutrition company for the future and is leading the development of sustainable agriculture and digital tools to contribute to solving global agricultural challenges. We have a worldwide presence with sales teams in ~150 countries and around 17,000 employees. Yara Farming Solutions, will lead the transformation towards more sustainable and efficient food production, by innovating our offerings and the way we work. Crop and Digital Solutions is responsible developing and scaling new “on-farm” digital and integrated tools and solutions for an efficient and transparent food system.


  • Agronomy knowledge is at the core of Yara's digital solutions. We are looking for an Agtech profile with strong agronomy experience to be at the forefront of validating the feasibility, desirability, and viability of our digital solutions towards smallholder farming communities.

  • You will be actively involved in developing digital farmer solutions from ideation to product roadmap & strategy, service design & user experience and in-field validation, ensuring concepts are ground-truthed and fit for release

  • Using the combination of your agronomic knowledge and your experience monitoring crops you will lead projects to capture farm-specific data with smallholder farmers in Asia, Africa, and Latin America and provide them recommendations based on their need and their profile.

  • Be part of a lean startup team where we apply design thinking and agile practices to achieve our goals

  • Working closely with industry stakeholders, local experts and farmers to ensure solutions meet the needs of our users


  • Managed or led AgTech, digital farming or related agricultural digital solutions from concept/MVP through to release

  • Capacity to synthesize feedback from multiple stakeholders into clear recommendations for digital solutions

  • Analytical thinker, experienced in converting scientific trial outcomes into practical solutions for farmers

  • Experience in IoT, remote sensing, chemical analysis, automated advice system.

  • Experience monitoring plant nutrition, water management, plant growth, plant a/biotic stress, harvest timing, crop yield, and quality.
