Manager, Digital Operations

With its headquarters in Singapore, Yara Africa & Asia (YAA) is one of Yara’s three regional geographic operating units. YAA and its team of 2,000 employees support an extensive and diverse region of 22 market economies. YAA works closely with in-country, regional, and global stakeholders – including policymakers, commercial and smallholder farmers, retailers and channel partners, and NGOs to identify how the company can best support priorities around food security, farmer livelihoods, sustainability and circular economy across the food value chain. With global production capacity and product innovation, digital technology across five digital farming hubs – three of which are in Africa and Asia (Singapore, Shanghai, and Bangalore) – Yara Africa & Asia is supporting millions of farmers to grow our food sustainably 

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement digital operational strategies that support YAA DVCS overarching vision, objectives, and values. Translate business goals into actionable initiatives, ensuring effective cross-functional collaboration and resource allocation.
  • Orchestration: Lead the portfolio orchestration across all the countries’ digital teams, fostering a culture of accountability and careful budget management across YAA.
  • Process and Governance: Evaluate and streamline workflows, leveraging data analytics and automation to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize risk. Establish best practices for digital operations, including project management methodologies, performance metrics, budget & forecast accuracy and continuous improvement programs.
  • Technology Management: Supervise the selection, procurement, contract and payment management of third-party digital tools and platforms. Collaborate with the Digital Lab, China Digital Hub and Corporate Digital team to ensure technology investments are acquired and maintained in accordance with governance standards.
  • Risk & Compliance: Ensure digital operations adhere to industry standards, legal requirements, and regulatory frameworks. Ensure compliance to Corporate cybersecurity standards, data privacy policies, to safeguard Yara assets and reputation.
  • Team Development: Organise development programs for all country digital teams and ensure alignment with digital skills requirement and professional growth.
  • Customer Experience: Collaborate with core business teams in markets to drive and measure customer satisfaction of YAA digital tools deployed in markets.
    Vendor & Partner Management: Manage relationships with external vendors, technology partners, and service providers. Negotiate contracts, oversee service level agreements (SLAs), and ensure alignment with organizational goals and quality standards.
  • Financial Stewardship: Develop and manage budgets for digital operations, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring efficient resource utilization. Prepare regular reports for region and corporate leadership, providing strategic recommendations based on operational performance and financial health.
  • Change Management: Design and execute change management strategies to facilitate the smooth adoption of new technologies and processes. Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels to promote buy-in and minimize resistance.
  • Digital Contents: Lead content team through the entire lifecycle, including planning, creation, delivery and safe storage of assets

Profile

The Manager, Digital Operations is a visionary role responsible for the strategic leadership, management, and optimization of all digital operational processes across YAA and the countries. This role occupies a critical position on the YAA Digital team, working closely with other function leaders to drive operational excellence, innovation, people enablement and sustainable growth. The role for Digital Operations ensures that YAA’s business digital infrastructure, platforms, and workflows are robust, agile, and aligned with overall organizational goals.

Additional Information

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required
  • Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in operational leadership roles within digital, technology, or innovation-driven environments
  • Understanding of digital platforms, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and data analytics.
  • Proven ability to inspire, motivate, collaborate and lead cross-functional teams in fast-paced, complex environments. Soft skills preferred - facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing digital operational strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Exceptional communication, multi-tasking and interpersonal skills for stakeholder management. Clear and concise communicator, able to synthesise information quickly, highlight key takeaways, and disseminate impactful insights
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making and process improvement.
  • Experienced with stakeholder management including executive leadership, customers, partners, and vendors.
  • Hands-on experience with change management especially in designing and implementing change management frameworks to drive digital penetration in the markets.
