Bagging Machine Operator

About the Unit

The Yara North America Stockton Dry Terminal is located in Stockton California. It provides direct deep water access to imported fertilizer for local markets. The 80,000 MT warehouse and terminal is located on the San Joaquin River approximately 90 miles upriver from the San Francisco bay  and employs 9 full time employees.

  • Perform all overhead bin filling activities with Pay Loader Operators and Yard Goat Operator to maintain proper product levels at the bagging unit at all times
  • Conduct prescribed testing and calibration to maintain accuracy of all systems
  • Assist the PIC and coordinates with ship personnel for safe and efficient vessel discharge
  • Coordinate with truck drivers for safe and efficient loading and unloading of trucks
  • Monitor and log temperature and amperage readings for all operating equipment
  • Supply various manual and computer-generated records, receipt and shipment reports, as directed by terminal manager
  • Train colleagues in bagging unit operations
  • Read, understand, and implement the Stockton facility HESQ manual in all matters pertaining to this job
  • Develop and maintain proficiency in Yara ALS system, Evocon system, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Assist the maintenance operators in maintaining all warehouse equipment in a clean, safe, and efficient manner at all times
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of Production Line Machine Operator experience
  • Basic understanding of mechanics and automated equipment like pneumatics (e.g. rams, valves, solenoids, etc.), conveyors, proximity sensors, HMI panel operation
  • Industries with small commodity bagging lines preferred
  • Prioritization

Additional Information
  • Must be an American citizen or lawful permanent resident
  • Must be able to perform the following activities:
    • Lift and carry 40 to 60 lbs. bags
    • Use shovel to pick-up heavy cargo
    • Pick-up heavy material (25-55 lbs.)
    • Work in confined spaces
    • Work at heights (up to 150 feet)
    • Work on feet for several hours, including bending and kneeling
    • Wear respiratory protection, in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR Parts 1910 & 1926
    • Wear all types of personal protective equipment, including fall protection
    • Differentiate colors (not be color-blind)
    • Work outdoors/indoors under extreme temperatures
    • Work overtime when there is a need/requirement to deliver on terminal obligations
