Senior Reliability Engineer

About the Unit

The Senior Reliability Engineer provides technical expertise and leadership to develop and execute asset reliability strategies across Yara’s supply chain operations, provides Reliability and Process subject matter expertise to team of operations managers to develop and deploy reliability improvement asset strategies, monitors asset reliability results, addresses issues hindering asset reliability improvements, focuses on sustaining gains, and delivers value to site financially, collaborates with peers and SME’s to ensure consistent application and continuous improvement of the reliability strategies across the supply chain, assesses asset health to prioritize maintenance activities and capital replacement, executes maintenance related projects, and focuses on advanced training on reliability topics and process knowledge.

 

The Senior Reliability Engineer will report to the Technical Engineer Manager and will work remotely (Eastern US location is preferred, as some travel to our Tampa, FL office will be required).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with operations managers and other peers to develop reliability improvement asset strategies, pursue consistency between sites, share best practices and experiences. Deploy and execute asset strategies. Monitor results to continually refine and improve asset strategies.
  • Mine data from all available sources (OIS, reliability, PCMS, CMMS, etc.) to identify reliability improvement opportunities and develop corrective actions focused on delivering OEE improvement and cost reduction. Utilize Root Cause Analysis processes to review significant failures, identify corrective action to prevent re-occurrence and refine asset strategy to sustain improvement.
  • Identify deficiencies in maintenance processes and develop sustainable improvement. Apply and optimize PM / PdM activities to drive improvement in asset mean time between failures.
  • Provide prioritized risk-based asset assessments, inspections, and audits that support 5-year capital financial planning.
  • Develop, plan, schedule, and execute maintenance projects per Yara’s Capital Value Process. This includes HazOp activities, management of change, scope development, design, permitting, contractor management, budget management, schedule compliance, and HES activity management.
  • Partner with HES and Capital partners to incorporate appropriate HES, maintenance, and reliability improvements for new equipment.
  • Develop subject matter expertise of fundamental reliability concepts and skills. Develop operations process knowledge required for effective troubleshooting and problem solving. Support operations and contracted maintenance personnel with technical expertise, precision centered repair techniques, project management, best practice sharing, HazOp activities, and management of change.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, training, safety improvements.

Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline; preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of related experience (ex- heavy industrial maintenance, reliability, or operations experience).
  • Includes 2+ years of project management experience with medium to large scale capital projects.
  • Broad engineering and construction knowledge in all disciplines.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience.
  • Experience in Quality/Efficiency programs such as 5S/Lean is an advantage.
  • Facilitation experience with RCA.
  • Knowledge of Predictive Technologies (vibration, IR, UE, MCA, oil analysis).
  • Facilitated experience with RCM and FMEA.
  • CMRP (SMRP certified maintenance reliability professional).
  • CRE (ASQ certified reliability engineer).
  • CRL (AMP certified reliability leader).
  • CSSBB (ASQ certified six sigma black belt).
  • Knowledge of Industry “Best practices” in RE
  • Knowledge of RE aspects, such as (but not limited to), Criticality Ranking, RE analysis (e.g. FMEA/PMO), designing and implementing of Preventive Maintenance plans, Spare Parts strategy, Outsourcing strategy, RCA methods.
  • Knowledge of RE software tools.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong HES mindset.
  • Proven communication skills both verbal and written, extremely organized, good interpersonal skills, cooperative, able to work with, and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Word, Excel, Outlook, CMMS, MiniTab experience.
  • Capacity to handle complex problems, good analytical skills, and “hands on” attitude.
  • Must demonstrate ability to influence others; requires strong leadership qualities, teamwork and problem solving / decision making qualities.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are an asset.
  • Willingness to work in an international environment.
  • Moderate travel is required.
