Yara Pocklington is a leader in the development, manufacture and distribution of speciality nutrient products for use in agriculture worldwide. The business has grown significantly in recent years and Yara has extremely ambitious growth objectives for its YaraVita and Biotryg Biostimulants business.

The Pocklington site is a medium sized speciality production facility. It is a top tier COMAH site, involved in the batch production and packaging of speciality liquid and powder nutrient products.

Reporting to the Operations Director, we are seeking a Production Manager to manage and lead its Production team. This comprises of Shift Managers and Production Operatives, Engineering and Maintenance, Warehousing, Quality Control, Operational Excellence and Competence Development teams.

  • Optimise operational performance through efficient and effective use of plant and people resources
  • Drive and improve Health and Safety, Environmental, Quality, Technical Operating Procedures and Production standards
  • To ensure an “agile” approach to lean manufacturing techniques.  A high standard in Competence, Operational Discipline and Workplace Organisation with a focus on equipment effectiveness, rapid changeovers, overall productivity, elimination of waste and continuous improvement.
  • Management of Engineering standards, critical assets and asset care.
  • To be a proactive and decisive team leader, with a focus on developing employee competence
  • To help prepare, monitor and be accountable for the production Business Plan and plant capital requirements.
  • Ideally minimum Honours Bachelors Degree in engineering, chemical engineering or a related subject or qualified through substantial proven experience.
  • Proven record in the management and improvement of all aspects of manufacturing standards, managing the efforts and activities of people, capital and equipment resources
  • Experience gained ideally in a batch processing environment from a similar industry e.g. Chemicals, Nutrition, Food, Pharmaceutical or Personal Care
  • Effective team leader with the interpersonal skills to manage and develop individuals in the team
  • Understanding of budget management & cost process
  • Strong communication, influencing and negotiating skills
  • Proven multitasking and priority management skills
  • Knowledge of SAP would be preferred but not essential
