Project HSE Manager

About the Unit

We are embarking on a project for the construction of a new approx 26,500 m2 production and warehouse building with offices and facilities for employees and are seeking to recruiting a Project HSE Manager will have the responsibility to ensure occupational health and safety on location in line with Yara's Policies and national legislation as we move into the execution phase of the building of a new YaraVita production facility along the East Yorkshire M62 corridor, where the role would be based. 

 

The role will be on a three year fixed term contract.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates leadership and commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment (HSE)
  • Actively encourages and leads all contractor teams to implement and comply with project HSE requirements
  • Ensures that works within area of responsibility are executed in accordance with the contract, and conform with project time and budget requirements
  • Develops, maintains and implements the Site Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System in line with company and external certification requirements as directed
  • Ensures that risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are reviewed with regards to HSE requirements and that work is carried out in accordance with the RAMS
  • Ensures that Dynamic Risk Assessments are carried out at the point of work
  • Ensures HSE hazards are eliminated or mitigated to the extent practicable
  • Administers the permit to work process when required
  • Undertakes incident investigation, internal inspections and audits of HSE standards on site as required
  • Assists in the community elements of the project
  • Assists in emergency response at site
  • Develops and undertakes site HSE inductions and provides regular HSE training / information for new contractors/employees
  • Ensures the HSE content of training provided by the Company is up to date, relevant and of high quality
  • Assists where necessary with presentations to internal and external bodies
  • Keeps the Project Team informed of all site related HSE activities
  • Reports periodically on agreed project KPI’s

Profile

  • Essential requirement - NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent i.e. NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety Practice) 
  • Knowledge of HSE legislation, ISO 14001 and 45001
  • Experience in construction or other related fields (Knowledge of CDM advantageous)
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Unmovable on compliance
