About the Unit
The Public Affairs EU team at Yara International is looking for a Policy Officer EU Affairs to increase its advocacy impact. The successful candidate will report to the Director, EU Policy, and support the team’s work on climate and energy policy. Working closely with colleagues across the Public Affairs EU function, they will contribute to the execution of advocacy strategies and stakeholder engagement.
The team operates in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, requiring agility, sound judgment, and the ability to adapt quickly to evolving priorities. This is a unique opportunity to help drive advocacy for Yara International, positioning Yara as a constructive partner in the energy transition and in the decarbonization of the food system and energy-intensive industries. You will play a key role in helping deliver on Yara’s mission to responsibly feed the world and protect the planet, which is more important now than ever.
Responsibilities
Policy & advocacy:
• Actively contributing to the development and implementation of Yara’s policy priorities at EU level in the areas of the Clean Industrial Deal, the EU Emissions Trading System, the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, Carbon Capture and Storage, the Industrial Accelerator Act, the post-2030 Renewable Energy Framework.
• Implementing several advocacy projects in the field of energy, climate, and industry policies, coordinating advocacy actions between the European level and the national level (EU Member States)
• In collaboration with the Director and the team, managing the project streams dedicated to the above subjects and representing the organization in various associations and alliances
Stakeholder engagement:
• Actively managing strategic relationships with key stakeholders to position Yara as a leading actor in the above-mentioned fields
Internal collaboration & knowledge sharing:
• Actively contributing to a transparent and effective knowledge sharing and building capacity across Yara
• Supporting the team in the preparation of a weekly monitoring tool on European affairs
Team support & operations:
• Executing other tasks in support of the team (supporting the preparation of events, reporting activities, internal presentations)
Profile
Education & Experience:
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in EU public policy, public affairs, advocacy or related fields; previous professional experience in EU institutions, industry, trade associations, public affairs consultancies, NGOs, think tanks or regulatory bodies is a plus
• A very good understanding of the political environment in the EU and of the functioning of the European institutions
• Master’s degree in international relations, political science, European studies, energy & climate policy or related discipline.
Competencies:
• Excellent English language skills (C1-C2); other languages are a plus
• Excellent writing and editing skills
• Ability to make complex topics accessible and relevant to different audiences
• Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-moving environment
• Demonstrates curiosity, initiative and a growth mindset
• Strong team player who actively contributes to collective success, while taking ownership of individual responsibilities
• Pro-active mindset, solution-oriented and positive mentality
