Yara Pilbara is part of Yara International, a global crop nutrition company. The Pilbara site is one of the world’s largest ammonia production facilities, with downstream processing through the Yara Pilbara Nitrates Technical Ammonium Nitrate plant, a joint venture with Orica. Together with ENGIE, Yara Pilbara is also developing a renewable hydrogen plant to produce renewable ammonia.

As a Graduate E&I Engineer, you will work within the Maintenance Department’s Reliability Engineering Team, gaining exposure to both static and rotating equipment while supporting reliability and maintenance activities across the site. 

You will commence in January/February 2027, aligned with the completion of your university studies and subject to successfully obtaining your degree. 

Throughout the program, you will: 

  • Work closely with Reliability and Maintenance teams on plant improvement and maintenance initiatives
  • Support condition monitoring activities and reliability-based projects
  • Assist in conducting root cause analysis (RCFA) and implementing corrective actions
  • Contribute to contractor management and job coordination activities
  • Assist in preventive maintenance planning and execution
  • Develop skills in planning, budgeting, and cost control processes
  • Coordinate work packs, job documentation, and post-job reporting
  • Support job prioritisation, scheduling, and day-to-day supervision activities
  • Ensure compliance with safety systems including PTW, JSEA, and SSJA
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop technical understanding of instrumentation, control systems, and electrical assets
  • Gain exposure to maintenance of static and rotating equipment (e.g. valves, pumps, turbines, piping systems)
  • Build knowledge of applicable engineering standards and codes (AS, ISO, API, etc.)
  • Contribute to maintaining high-quality workmanship and efficient job delivery
  • Assist in identifying plant inefficiencies and supporting improvement plans
  • Perform data analysis, reporting, and documentation tasks
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and a systematic approach to problem-solving
  • Participate in HESQ training and support site safety initiatives, including Walk-Observe-Communicate (WOC) interactions
  • Participate in emergency response activities (e.g. Site Response Team, Fire Warden, First Aid) where required 

About You

We are looking for passionate graduates who are eager to learn and grow within a collaborative team environment. 

To be successful, you will have: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering 
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), with fluency in English essential 
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment 
  • A proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and development 
  • The ability to perform work responsibly, minimising risks and potential issues 
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) 
  • Australian or New Zealand citizenship, or permanent residency (temporary visa holders are not eligible) 
  • A willingness to relocate to Karratha, WA for the duration of the program
